(Dutch) action at Worlds 2000

(pics: Simone the Ruyter / Wim Heemskerk, text: Wim)

Day one: Simone de Ruyter and Mantijn van Leeuwen competing for one of those last semi-final slots. Neither one of them made it, unfortunately.
Day two: 'Pressure rises' ;-) Ewout Deurwaarder (in front) playing against me (Wim Heemskerk). Angelique Bouwman is watching over us. I had missed the Dutch nationals and made up for it today by playing three out of the four other Dutchmen in the semi's.
Meanwhile Kees Schipstra is enjoying not making it into the semi's. After all nothing beats a drinking game, if Oscar Silow is right - Oscar quit the semi's to join in the drinking game. - Kees moved to Congo after Worlds was over. I wonder what beer they will serve him there.
[Worlds-4] Joern Licht (left) playing Steve Cantens in the last match of the finals. Insert: The One Ring, which Steve took home afterwards. This match is actually a rematch. Joern had made an error in his decklist: the card that had cost Steve the game wasn't on it. Steve was therefore granted a rematch (after the error was corrected). This time Steve won the match and... the title! Congratulations Steve!
