Yep a tourney in Breda.
Never been there so let's see if it is a
nice city. Wim and me left early in the morning by train. When we got there it
was surprisingly easy to find the comicstore "Franka". This was so easy
cause a big Franka head was in the store window.
Inside we found a backroom, nice and warm. Most of the players
around were from Breda and nearby cities. The coordinator, Michel Schelfhout,
certainly was in a very good mood all day.
Alright
first round. I was matched with Joost van Dijk. It
started out pretty bad since my opponent had never played with the region
movement rules. They always played with starter movement only: the rules that
make you return to a (dark)havens all the time. And to make matters worse I was a
minion;
he'd never played minions. So to no surprise for either of us I won on the 3rd
turn
by unleashing a combo of undead and killing almost every character, too bad. I
hope I didn't ruin his fun in the game.
The next round... I am cooked. I was to face Ard, THE undead hazard player. He is very font of Gondor decks so I lost big time. Congratulations Ard. I also had a bad draw.
The third round went smooth and after a good game I was to face Wim Heemskerk in the final round. Now was that what I came to Breda for? To be slaughtered by Wim who I could also play right here in Apeldoorn? We shall see...
"Hey Simon. Good I am matched to you.
Now I can use my intimidation
skills!" So he did, I got pretty much slaughtered by his hazards and as
usual he had a very fine resource deck. So to no one's surprise he won the
tourney.
It was a good place for trading some cards, I even got a
deal with someone to trade a ancient black axe next time I see him. So if you
read this, the tourney in Apeldoorn has already been helt! I need that axe!
During the lunch break Wim had his laptop in the store playing the trailers to the new
upcoming Lord of the Rings movies, there was great interest but most people had
already seen the trailers.
So another successful tourney... What did you say? What place did I end? I'd rather
not discuss that...
