I organized this tournament to get some of the local players more interested in the game and in that I think I succeeded. Overall I must say it was a fun tournament, there were a lot of rule questions and (I'm afraid) even more newly invented rules. Since only 9 players showed up (Hightree where were you?) we were one person short so I decided to play too and didn't have time to watch those new players.
As I said before I played deck `I', which I must say is a pretty good squatter deck. It gains a steady amount of MP's and can give your opponents a really hard time with its roadblock hazard strategy. The first round I played Maarten (one of the local beginners, deck E) who got beaten pretty hard by a slayer (killed his wizard) and alone and unadvised (killed Aragorn, who was just crowned king). With Gandalf killed he was unable to test his rings and lost 6-0.
The second game I played Daan (another local, playing deck B). This was a really fun game since he was pretty succesfull in playing his Undead and Corruption and he was able to keep Doors of Night out of play with his Gates. We were both gaining little MP's, and during the last turn a well timed snowstorm withheld him from getting his only faction at the Blue Mountain Dwarf Hold. My faction points were doubled and I won another 6-0.
The third game I played Robert (challenge deck D, with Radi). His Sellswords hit me hard and a serious mistake from my side (tapping Cirith Gorgor) kept the game very interesting. Fortunately I was able to tap some of his sites with Long Winter and Snowstorm him. After he got out his promptings that was quickly over and he was gaining MP's fast. We both cycled our deck pretty quickly and I was finally able to play the factions at Cirith Gorgor. When time was up he had 29 point and I had 27. However, he had only 12 non-faction points so I won this game by 4-2.
The last game I played Ewoud (deck G). He had a really hard time dealing with my roadblock, but he was also able to kill my Horseman and wound some others on there way to Nurniag Camp. I was getting my factions slowly and the ones he got (thanks to Thror's map) were worth a lot more points. My creatures were no match for his 8+ prowes characters. Finally my roadblock gave me the advantage and I won again 4-2.
Overall I had a fun tournament, especially since it was a really relaxed one.

Rob.
