As the Council we wish to remain neutral towards stores; we want to work with
everyone and not do anyone an undeserved favor (or just the opposite). Thus
we've always been reluctant to start a where to buy page. Recently
however more and more people seem to think that the Middle-earth CCG is no
longer available. That, fortunately, is not true, as the stores on this page
demonstrate.
Dutch on-line stores
These offer the widest range of MeCCG, both singles and product.
| www.cardexchange.com | A very professional store based in Zaandam. Somewhat specialized in singles. |
| www.gwaihir.net | Offering a broad range of MeCCG (singles and product), from Apeldoorn |
| www.tolkienshop.com | A store specialized in all things Tolkien, based in Leiden. Not as much MeCCG as the other two but a lot of other interesting items. |
Other stores
Several specialized game stores around the country keep some MeCCG in stock.
It never hurts to check those around you. Others may consider it leftovers: they
won't have a lot, certainly not a lot of variety, but they might give you a
great deal. If you're looking for the Dutch translation In de Ban van de Ring
you can also look for leftovers at toy stores.
Auction sites
Middle-earth product, cards and sets are frequently seen in on-line
auctions, such as those on eBay.
No telling what might be on this week..
The trade center
It's not a store, but it certainly can't be left out either: Chris
Cable's trade center. In the trade center many players, collectors and
professionals word-wide list the Middle-earth CCG they have to sell and / or to
trade, as well as what they want to trade for. Your page can be there too: it's
a free service maintained excellently by Chris Cable.
Selling
If you are looking to sell your cards, these same places are your friends.
In general: the more effort and time you're willing to put in, the more you'll make for your cards. This goes for both sorting / listing time and time to wait for a buyer willing to pay a fine price. If you want to get a reasonably good price for your collection, you will at the least have to catalogue your rares (see downloads area for card lists).
Without doing so your only ways of
selling are dumping it on eBay as a surprise lot or selling it to a collector or
store owner in person when you run into one at a convention or similar event. If
any rare is in less than straight from the pack condition, either describe its
condition or don't bother listing it at all. With a proper listing you'll make
more on eBay, could also list it at Chris' (either as one buy, or as singles)
and might find a store interested in buying. Don't expect any store to pay you
before it has verified card conditions, so make sure you deliver as promised.
Also expect the shipping cost and risk to be yours.
About this listing
This listing is primarily targeting our Dutch audience and not meant to
be exhaustive. Though if you're running a store in the Netherlands and feel left
out, do let us
know (no guarantees).
There are some plans to start a more exhaustive world
wide listing of stores with information on them, at MeCCG.net. There however is
currently no moderator available to take care of it... might it be you?
