Few decks of mine..

Post by kUOLLUTMIEs » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:47 pm

Its been a while since I last played this game.. Possibly back in the 90s. Recently I was going through my stuff and found my cards so I put together few decks, but not sure if they work fast enough. Back then I had some succes, but I think new strategies have emerged.

Deck I - Up North

Starting characters:

Thrain II - Horn of Anor
Oin
Gloin - Cram
Kili

Characters: (8+3)

Radagast x 3
Thranduil
Thorin II
Dain II
Beorn
Gimli
Fram Framson
Balin
Fili

Resources: (32)

Quickbeam
Gwaihir
Iron Hill Dwarves
Wood-Elves
Men of Dorwinion
Men of Northern Rhovanion
Men of Dale
Wormsbane
Enruned Shield
Narsil
Emerald of the Mariner
Necklace of Girion
Arkenstone
Durin's Axe
Glamdring
Valiant Sword x 2
Fellowship x 3
Sacrifice of Form
Risky Blow x 3
A Friend or Three x 3
Concealment x 3
Smoke Rings x 3

Hazard: (32)

Uvatha the Horseman
Mouth of Sauron
Smaug
Scatha
Earcaraxe
Leucaruth
Agburanar
Daelomin
Bairanax
Scorba
Cave-Drake x 3
Summons From Long Sleep x 2
From The Pits of Angband x 2
Rumor of Wealth x 3
Dragon's Desolation x 3
Frenzy of Madness x 2
Parsimony of Seclusion x 2
Fever of Unrest x 2
Twilight x 3

Sideboard: (20)

Marvels Told x 3
Many Foes He Fought x 3
Houses of Healing x 2
Old Thrush x 2
Sated Beast x 2
Gates of Morning x 3
Marsh-Drake x 3
Dragon's Blood x 2

Basic idea is quite straight forward. Go north, get some weapons and hack and slash through everything, when characters are strong enough. There are some easy factions too. First of course I need to be careful so thats why I have three Concealments and Risky Blows. In case(possibly in hope) of bigger threats like dragons I have Old Thrushes in sideboard. Against corruption I need to go to my sideboard and have Balin sit in haven and use Marvels Told(Also effective against ahunts and at homes if my characters aren't strong enough yet) and Fellowships. Against roadblock there are two rangers, Twilights and Gates of Morning in sideboard.

Hazard on the other hand is something that hits most if someone is trying to get MY points from same regions. I can get dragons hit multiple places and they hit hard. Only weak spots are minions if they just sit in Mordor gathering those little orcses, we hates them, and some Aragornian quest for returning the king which doesn't leave free domains..

Run through places close by, hit in play item, thorough search another and rescue prisoners. Assassins, Slayers and corruption are the biggest worries.
