Strategy:

Start Buthrakaur, Gorbag, Doeth and Mountain-Maggot at Moria. Split on turn 1:

-Buthrakaur meets a Hill Troll at Moria and goes to Weathertop.
-Gorbag and Maggot meet an Orc Tracker and go to Ost-in-Edhil
-Doeth stays at Moria

Splitting companies is necessary because you don't want Hedless Revelry ruining the day...
Buth and Gorbag company play lots of allies at their sites. As soon as you draw the palantir of Elostirion, send Buth there and keep playing stuff there. You can sb Palantir of Orthanc and move Gorbag company there as well (especially if your FW opponent plays Fortress of the Towers, you should consider playing this one instead of the Palantir of Elostirion and don't leave Weathertop)

Every company has at least 1 ranger and 1 scout, hence the crept alongs, nice place to hide and hide in dark places.

The Hog starts at the Under-gates and sb in the Orcs of Moria. You can play Umagaur too after Great Shadow is in play. In the late game, you can sb a couple of Darkness Wielded and play the Cheeze Axe.

All in all, a safe & simple deck.

MPs:

Characters: 15
Allies: 10-12 (depending on how fast My Precious hits the table...)
Items: 3-10
Factions: 3-4
Total: 31-41

Indeed these hazards did damage to my opponents during the cup - otherwise I wouldn't have managed to get those 6-0.

These type of hazards are usually named as "grab bag" IIRC. This means, basically, that they try to do a bit of everything. My hazards ve hero are a good example of that...

Fisrt of all, the high presence of nazgul (5) assures that I will have easy access to the hazards in my sb. Combining the hazards in the deck with the ones in the sb, the hazard portion will counter a good variety of decks. Note that there are certain cards that are solid counters to certain strategies only by themselves (lost in free domains, lost at sea, beorning s/c...) Most of the time, the key to a good hazard play relies on anticipate what's your opponent going to do, figure out what cards is he/she holding in his hand, how many of his sages or rangers are tapped, how many Marvels Told has he/she played, etc.

However, the most valuable quality of these kind of hazards is speed. Note that most of these hazards can be played on any company at any time, and they won't need any combination with other card(s) to work. There are really a few excpetions to this. Considering that my resource side squats most of the game, I need to do something to increase the card flow.

As a side note, the hazard portion vs minion is indeed centered around one type of creatures - undead. Mainly because most of the minion decks will visit those places where undead can attack. They are not the biggest creature attacks, but they tend to tap your opponent characters really well. Finally, if they don't go to such places, cards like Lost in Free Domains and Siege (in sb) will come in handy.

Hope that solves your question =)

Well, as in many Hog vs Hog games, it's up to who pulls the Balrog first, and you played him before me. There was really few I could do about that, and even with that it was a close and interesting match in the end, as everytime we play lately :)

I shall take rematch on HispanoIberoamérica cup! :D
