[hero vs all] Elf-song trick-deck

Post by |Highwayman| » Tue Oct 31, 2006 4:41 pm

You can always play a new character during the org phase, even if you don't have enough GI to control him, he'll just get sent back to your hand at the end of the organization phase.... and here comes Elf-song witch prevents discarding or returning to it's owners hand any characters that are at a haven site
Of all the decks I've ever built this one makes me feel the most proud even though it got me only 3rd place in Polish Nationals in 2005

Starting:
Galadriel with Cram
Elrond with Star-glass

Characters in deck:

Radagast
Radagast
Pallando
Vygavril
Adrazar
Arinmir
Cirdan
Aragorn II
Glorfindel II
Thorin II
Thrain II

Resources:

Elf-song x3
Echo of All Joy x3

Unabated in Malice
Beorning Skin-changers
Beorning Skin-changers
Beorning Skin-changers
Knights of the Prince
Chill Them with Fear x3
Elf-lord Revealed in Wrath x3
Wandering Eldar x2
Dwarven Travelers x2
Baduila
Golodhros

Sideboard:
Tom Bombadil
Noble Steed x2
Wizard's River-horses x2
Vanishment x3

Wormsbane
My Precious
Rolled down to the Sea
In the Heart of his Realm
The Way is Shut x2
Veils Flung Away x2
Heedless Revelry x2
Pukel-men x2  (vs. :S: :D: squatters and Balrog)
Silent Watcher x2 (vs. :S: :D: squatters and Balrog)
Nameless Thing x2 (vs. Balrog)
Anarin
Surion
Khamul the Easterling (vs. Khamul Machine)

Galadriel is the key character as she's the best character to do Hour of Need. If Phial is in first hand play it on Elrond, if not discard Cram (fear of corruption) and transfer Star-glass to Galadriel.
Turn 1 - the most risky part of the deck, move Galadriel alone to Lorien

Play Elf-song as soon as possible, and start bringing characters into play, move them between the havens in 2 character companies max - during the org phase when GI is counted and managed all your character should be at havens so Elf-song will keep them in play. Keep the Elf-lords in their havens for a hand size of 11 (12 if you play Pallando instead of Raddy)
Constantly recycle resources with Vilya and Smoke Rings
Play faction with Webs of Fear & Treachery+Hour of Need+Persuasive Words with Galadriel, untap Lorien by moving in and out of there with the extra characters
Bring in Noble Steeds, spells and items for the wizard to do something, and when in need of more points bring in Bombadil and Great Road...
At one time when playing with this deck i was using 56 GI :D
sure 0 free GI isn't too great vs. News of Doom or Muster Disperses, but you can always recycle lost factions and play them again - when you have your wizard in the faction area use him, don't wait for Hour of Need+Webs of Fear & Treachery
When you play Elf-song and Echo play Balance Between Powers as soon as you can - with so many environment cards in deck and with Vilya+Smoke Rings it shouldn't be a problem to keep Balance in play until the end of the game
Many Sorrows Befall can destroy everything though with it's rarely used second ability to discard a resource long-event, but fortunately Many Sorrows Befall isn't that popular
Haven't played much with this deck as it's really frustrating to the opponent and I don't like to do that, but I've lost only 1 game with this deck - bounced Elrond in draft and got Galadriel killed by a Cave Worm when moving to Lorien, but I still managed to make it a 2-4 tournament loss rather then 0-6 :D

Persuasive Words is a brilliant addition to the Hour of Need/Webs trick.  Perhaps even better would be Tidings of Death?

Also, why don't you play Elves of Lindon and/or Wood-Elves along with Alliance of Free Peoples?

I remember considering Tidings of Death, but as it's a long-event and Hour of Need is playable during the org phase I would have to play Tidings one turn before I would play Hour - and I think it's enough that I need to play Webs before Hour so I chose to use Persuasive Words

As for Elves of Lindon and/or Wood-Elves+Alliance of Free Peoples - not enough space for it and I have enough faction points from Southrons, Iron Hill Dwarves and Variags of Khand

Sorry for necromantic activity.

I just cannot see what grounds or tactics you can use to bring into play characters which will exhaust your GI here? Since Elrond and Galadriel together will use 19 points, you can only bring into play characters which can be controlled by their DI or ones with only 1 mind? Or how do you do it? Vilya-recycling? Wait for the Wizard?

It is legal to bring into play characters during the organization phase even if you do not currently have the influence to control them.  However, by the end of the organization phase, all characters must be controlled by Influence or any characters played must be returned to your hand.
