[Minion resource; vs. minion] Surprising Stewards

Post by Zarathustra » Sun Aug 06, 2006 2:42 pm

This is a hybrid MvM deck, which starts out by launching a bunch of lone orc-scouts into the Withered Heath and ends by shuttling two or three Faithless Stewards to their home site.

Start:

Grishnakh
Gorbag / Strange Rations
Ufthak / Strange Rations
Lugdush

Dorelas

Characters in Deck:

3 Uvatha
Raisha
Woffung
Gergeli
Dasakun

Resources:

3 Open to the Summons
3 Dark Tryst
3 Voices of Malice
3 Weigh All Things to a Nicety
3 Orc Stealth
3 Sneakin'
3 Ruse
1 Bade to Rule
1 While the Yellow Face Sleeps

1 Mithril Coat
1 High Helm
1 Sable Shield
1 Thong of Fire
3 Regiment of Black Crows

Hazards:

I don't know what goes best with this.  Not Snowstorm, not corruption....

Key Sideboard Cards:

3 Faithless Steward
1 Sudden Call
1 Morgul Orcs
1 Ice Orcs
2 Gifts as Given of Old

Play Tips:

The orc-scouts split on turn one, moving to Irerock, Caves of Ulund, Dancing Spire, and Gold Hill.  Dorelas stays behind, of course.  Make sure to keep alive whichever orc scouts you've put an item on.  One of them can and probably should die, to make room in your GI for Stewards.  Each turn, the orc scouts shuffle sites, which allows you to draw 8 cards.  Meanwhile, build your group of stewards, starting them at Minas Morgul and then moving them to Dol Guldur to decrease company size so that they can Sneak on the last turn.  Uvatha's main job is to hold Dorelas under his high DI, and to SB.  Dorelas or Uvatha can try for the Morgul Orcs.  Make sure you SB over the Ice Orcs, so that Gorbag can give them a go.  With High Helm + 1 Gifts or with 2 Gifts, he should have no trouble.  If you still have a major item left to play on your last turn, send the stewards to Shrel Kain, where they can power up their Faithlessness for 3 points apiece, as well as play an easy major item.

MP Breakdown:

Character: 10
Ally: 3
Item: 10
Faction: 1-5
Misc: 6-9
Total: 30-37

Given the fact that you have your RW company in Dol Guldur, and you have to play Open to the Summons on a company, how do you start the agent group at Minas Morgul?

The RW company is actually at Minas Morgul.  That's why the try for the morgul orcs, not the orcs of DG.

Ok, understood.

Btw, you could use something similar vs hero as well; having them play a single copy of A Short Rest would mean you draw 20 cards with your scouts :D

Manuel's idea was to play with this deck vs. hero, and if/when your opponent plays A Short Rest, you could take a huge advantage from it.

Kris played a Hero deck with Short Rests IIRC.
