I was describing what I felt could be done by the MECCG community rather than as a commercial enterprise.

I think the reply from Pete Fenlon indicates that it could be possile to get permission to use the relevant icons etc. I think it would be possible to make plenty of card using these. Going further, it could also be possible to get permission to use characters and places from MERP as these are ICE c...

I wonder if it would be possible to simplify the situation and only deal with permission from ICE? Given that ICE still hold the rights to the game mechanics and icons, it might be possible to create cards which do not use any of the righs held by Tolkien Enterprises (ie no quotes from the books, or...

However, even such a "small project" would be well beyond what this community has every achieved over the years; it would not seem we have the capacities required to pull it off. That's not to say it is impossible, just to make anyone starting out think well about what he's getting into so he can d...

More info about the plans ICE had for LORE can also be found in Coleman Charlon's interview by Jason Kight in his MECCG Newsletter #4, pages 1-5 (which you can download from this page: http://www.meccg.net/netherlands/meccg/).

I think it would be great to revive MECCG, in particular if one could manage to somehow simplify the rules, or at least avoid any inconsistency or loopholes. That would be the key. A second edition would be required IMHO. The major problem with MECCG is that the rules are so complex and full of hol...

Hero is also more 'intuitive' and you get to use familiar characters and make cool plays described in the books.

No for me because I dont think it would help much and its not really a 'mistake'. This whole category of cards might be better with a dream card event that made them easier to play.

Edited to add the word 'not' which I missed the first time!

I have always found the original erratum very annoying in that it restricted use to opponent's site phase. My feeling is that they may have got it wrong and meant to add the possibility of using it in an opponent's site phase without preventing using in during a player's own turn. I've been burnt by...

I seem to be the only one who thinks it's strange that small and logical corrections that are democratically decided on are not endorsed, while a (possibly) big and new impetus on the game that is decided on by few is endorsed.  8O . I don't want to look like a crusader, nor do I feel I have t...

JUst to clarify, I am not suggesting deleting UEPs from the accepted UEP list, I'm proposing creating a smaller sub-list of Ratified UEPs. These would be the ones we considered to be the best (or most important) UEPs. There would thus be two tiers with the ratified list beng more conservative and pe...
